Since its establishment in 1983, the Deerfield Park Foundation has been accomplishing its primary goal: “to promote and develop recreation facilities and services in the Deerfield Park District.” By soliciting tax-deductible contributions from individuals, corporations, businesses and community organizations, the Foundation is able to supplement and improve existing leisure and recreation programs and services. The Park Foundation publishes an annual newsletter DFP News (1.2 MB PDF file) -please check out this 2008 edition.

Foundation Fundraising events that have been run annually for many years include a Joint Golf Outing (679 KB PDF file) coming up on June 18, run cooperatively with the Deerfield District 109 Education Foundation and a Moonlight Golf Outing (1 MB PDF file) on September 12. Both are open to all adults and conducted at the Deerfield Golf Club. Events include food/beverages, contests, auctions, prizes and more.  On January 19, the Foundation hosted it's first Art Auction by Park West Gallery. The event was filled to capacity with guests enjoying dinner, beverages, desserts, raffles and wonderful art and jewelry for sale to the highest bidders. Last year, the Kelly Miller Circus was a new family-friendly fundraising event run in cooperation with the Deerfield District 109 Education Foundation on September 18 with two performances for approximately 1500 attendees.

Current focuses of the Foundation are: the Grant-In-Aid (Scholarship) Program; the “Be A Dear of the Park Foundation;” and “Buy-A-Brick” or “Buy-A-Paver” for Deerspring or Mitchell Pool. Proceeds from many of the fundraising efforts go to support Deerfield's new and "Most Accessible Playground" at Deerspring Park as well as the Grant-in-Aid program.
