Youth Class Levels
Pee-Wee Tennis (NTRP 1.0) Introduction to tennis with emphasis on fun and development of motor skills. This program utilizes specialized, reduced size and age-specific equipment and teaching aids. It includes hand-eye coordination drills, racket drills, instruction on forehand and backhand ground strokes and forehand and backhand volleys and recreational games.
Youth Beginner (NTRP 1.0-1.9) This class is for those first taking up the game. Instruction includes hand-eye coordination, racket skills, stroke production with emphasis on ground strokes, serve, return and volleys. Court position scoring and singles and doubles strategies are introduced.
Youth Advanced Beginner (NTRP 2.0-2.5) This class is for those who have had basic instruction but need further review of fundamentals. Stroke development, footwork, strategy and match play is included in the instruction.
Youth Intermediate (NTRP 2.5-2.9) This class is for those who have developed more dependable strokes but are still working to keep the ball in play with others of same ability and need to develop court coverage and judgment of ball. Classes include stroke development, cooperative consistency drills, footwork, strategy, play action drills and match play.
Junior Tennis Camp This camp offers professional tennis instruction and gives students the opportunity to progress in tennis at a much faster rate than in the regular lesson setting. All aspects of the game are covered: stroke production, singles and doubles strategies conditioning and sportsmanship. Junior Tennis Camp I is designed for Beginners (NTRP 1.0) to Intermediate (NTRP 2.9). Junior Tennis Camp 2 is for Intermediate II (NTRP 3.0) to Advanced (NTRIP 4.0 and above).
Tournament Training I (NTRP 3.0-3.9) This program is for Juniors who are becoming serious about their game. This program is for those who are able to maintain rallies of slow pace and have improved ability to direct shots away from opponents. Players should be beginning to develop a consistent serve and volley with consistency if the ball is within reach. Classes include a unique blend of stroke development, cooperative and competitive drills and match play.
Tournament Training II (NTRP 4.0 and above) This is the program for players who want to play tennis on teams and in tournaments. This program is for those who have dependable ground strokes and have the ability to use a variety of shots including lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys, as well as place the first serve and force some errors. The class emphasis is on shot selection, strategy footwork, court position and coverage and the transition game through play action drills and controlled match play. |
Adult Class Levels
Adult Beginner (NTRP 1.0 – 1.9) This player has limited or no tennis experience and is still working on getting the ball over the net. The player may be familiar with scoring, but not with basic positions or procedures of singes and doubles play. Instruction includes stroke production, basic court positions and singles and doubles strategies.
Adult Advanced Beginner (NTRP 2.0 – 2.5) This player has had lessons but needs court experience. There are obvious stroke weaknesses, but the player is beginning to fee comfortable with singles and doubles play. Classes include stroke development, footwork, court position, strategy and match play.
Adult Intermediate I (NTRP 2.5 - 3.0) This player has more dependable strokes, but is unable to judge where the ball is going, has weak court coverage and is still working to keep the ball in play with others of the same ability level. Classes include stroke development, footwork, court position, strategy, cooperative consistency drills and match play.
Adult Intermediate II (NTRP 3.0 – 3.5) This player can place shots with a degree of success, can sustain a rally of slow pace, but is not comfortable with all strokes and lacks consistency in serving. Classes include advanced stroke development, footwork, court position, strategy, consistency drills, competitive play action drills and match play.
Adult Intermediate III (NTRP 3.5 – 4.0) This player still lacks stroke dependability, depth and variety, but has improved ability to direct shots away from opponents. This player rarely double faults, but does not force errors on the serve and hits forehand and backhand volleys with consistency if the ball is within reach. Classes include advanced stroke development, cooperative and competitive play action drills and play match.
Adult Intermediate IV (NTRP 4.0 –4.4) This player has dependable strokes on both forehand and backhand sides, as well as the ability to use a variety of shots, including lobs, overheads and volleys in addition to place the first serve and force some errors. This player is rarely out of place in a doubles game. Emphasis is on approach shots, footwork, shot selection the transition game and match play.
Adult Advanced (NTRP 4.5 and above) This player can overcome some stroke deficiencies with either outstanding shots or exceptional consistency. This player can hit first serve with power and hit with placement on the second serve. This player can approach the net at opportune times to force errors or make a winning placement and is able to serve and volley with some success. He can hit drop shots, half volleys and overhead smashes with above average success.
