The Deerfield Park District is pleased to announce that the 2006 Deerfield Tennis Program is again under the direction of Frank Sacks Tennis camps, Inc. Working with park district staff, the tennis program offers youth and adults classes at all levels based on the National Tennis Rating Program. USA Tennis 1-2-3 is an accelerated instructional program designed by the Frank Sacks Tennis Camps, Inc., and the United States Tennis Association (USTA); it helps youth and adults learn the skills necessary to play tennis for a lifetime. It also offers an excellent opportunity to receive professional tennis instruction at a fraction of the cost charged by private clubs and resorts.

Deerfield Tennis Programs are supervised by Frank Sacks, Director of Tennis, and Jimmy Knotek, the park district’s athletic supervisor. Sacks is a USPTA/USPTR-certified tennis professional and former head tennis coach at Northeastern Illinois University. His staff is comprised of top Chicago tennis professionals and collegiate players trained in his innovative methods, developed over the past 30 years. The 2006 Deerfield Tennis Program is a great value because:

  1. All adult and youth programs are taught by certified USPTA/USPTR tennis professionals with trained collegiate players providing assistance.
  2. Classes for both youth and adults are offered for all levels and ages at convenient times. Programs are designed to provide a wide variety of instruction including development of stroke, strategy, court positioning, shot selection, footwork and supervised match play.
  3. Our popular Junior Tennis Camp programs are offered during spring, summer and fall sessions in addition to the summer junior camp program.
  4. Makeup classes are offered for programs cancelled due to weather conditions. Most makeup classes for youth are at the regular time on Fridays. Adult makeup classes are scheduled as soon as weather permits. Because of our busy tennis class schedule, we can’t guarantee that makeup classes will be held on the same day of the week as your regularly scheduled class. No refunds will be offered if a makeup class is held on a different day of the week. Some alternate makeup class opportunities are available by calling Frank Sacks at the number below. Tennis classes are popular. If a class is filled, please ask to be placed on the waiting list. We will attempt to add new classes if there is enough interest in a particular program or class. Note the class descriptions in this section to assist you in selecting the appropriate class level.

For updated class information due to weather conditions, call the Sports Information Hotline at 847-317-2555. Questions? call Frank Sacks at 847-933-0002, visit www. franksackstennis.com, or call the district offices at 847-945-0650.
